Rounded deciduous shrub, with large flat heads of clear blue in July and August. The outer, sterile flowers are large and showy and surround the smaller, fertile flowers, giving it the appearance of a "lace cap." Excellent seaside plant.

This form is exceptional not only for its finely cut foliage, deep purple in new growth, but also for its abundant deep pink flowers produced most of the summer. Fall foliage is a rich red. It matures at about 2 feet high and 2-4 feet wide.

This interesting plant originated as a seeding from 'Purpurea Pendula,' and its coloring will be similar, but it stays quite a bit narrower. Up to 10 feet high and three feet wide, with loosely cascading branches. An elegant tree, perfect as a specimen in a confined spot. Will not need staking.

Butterfly Bush
An old-fashioned flowering shrub which is a must for the shrub border! Blooms from July 'til frost with a profusion of flowers that butterflies flock to. This is a vigorous form, with very dark purple blossoms against gray-green foliage. Blooming can be extended by deadheading spent blooms. Prune back hard in early spring. This one may be hardier than others.
